"If a man finds himself with bread in both hands, he should exchange one loaf for some flowers of the narcissus, because the loaf feeds the body, but the flowers feed the soul." - Muhammad

It sounds good in theory... but there's nothing like a plate of hash browns or a crusty french roll used for dipping in the red sauce. Flowers are pretty, but I love carbs!

Thanks for stopping by Sitting Pretty. I'll bookmark you and be back.

As a fat 43 yr old 'girl' (and i haven't read the book)(but maybe i should) i can only say that this fat girl ate to add a protective coating to arm herself against evil forces (family at first, life later) and now its an addiction. like my many others.

as your friend, i know that you eat because IT TASTES GOOD and you can (could). i wish more than anything that i could take over for you for a couple of days while you went on a binge that would make mamma cass look like an anorexic.

not looking for a fight. just a donut.

love you, colleen. love your blog.

Why did I think you were reading this Fat Girl when you mentioned it before? Hmm. I was thrilled that you were reading one of my favorites. Perhaps you were and I didn't know it. I shall shop for your Fat Girl in the future.

Now... that photo... girl... I seriously almost jumped through my computer to eat every bite of it. And I too have the bread dreams. Keith made a bologna sandwich today and I soooooo wanted a big ol' bite. And that's not even something I (the old me) am (is) crazy about!

*sigh*

Not sure what the point of this comment is. Just wishing I could have a piece of toast. Mmmmmmmm.

I just found your website whilst searching for some info on penicillin and 6MP. Let me first say that you are hysterical and I love your wit writing about Crohns. I've had ulcaretive colitis for 14 years-I'm 34 now and I can relate to your lessons learned from suffering with a chronic illness. Gratitude is the first I can think of too. I also was relieved to hear that your farts could kill puppies. Isn't it amazing what toxic fumes can escape from a thin framed woman? My poor kids are in tears at times. I am adding your sight to my favorites. Thanks for making me smile. Although I hate that you are also suffering, I am comforted to know you can keep your humor too. It is certainly an important tool for such life changing diseases!

I've never felt comfortable with people who feel thankful for getting some illness because it "made them a better person." But I'm sure being this diet has made you appreciate and understand your food better. I actually admire the different religions that have kosher-type restrictions of food and those who say grace after meals, because I think it helps connect you to the food that you eat. That said, not eating bread requires a lot of will power. (I've tasted some of those yeast-free breads -- more power to you!)
