That’s “REVEREND communicatrix” to you

Reverend Colleen

The BF’s brother (aka, “TBFB”) proposed to The BF’s brother’s Lovely Girlfriend (aka, “TBFBLG”) a few months back and—glory be—she accepted.

And so, barring any objections from the kingpins of SLO County, I expect to officiate my first wedding ceremony this October, on the breezy shores of my favorite place in the world.

Time to start putting my nerdmasters membership to good use…

  1. Are you serious? What did you have to do to get this? Can you do a bris? Do I have to call you Reverend in emails?

  2. Girl, that beach vacation was TWO YEARS AGO?! Dang, where does the time go? Hope you’ve had a good rest like that once SINCE. My mother was ‘ordained’ years ago…has performed several weddings…including my brother’s 3rd and his ex-wife’s 2nd. ;) We tried to get our Rasta Cowboy friend from Switzerland ordained in time to marry us while we were all together in the islands…but it didn’t happen. Maybe that’s why we still haven’t gotten around to tying the knot after 12 years together…I still have visions of the 3 of us barefoot on our favorite beach… I think the October plan sounds wonderful.

  3. Enter the words of a complete stranger from the ether of the internet…

My brother recently became a Reverend to officiate his wife’s sister’s wedding. He called the other day to tell me he printed himself some business cards. Something you might consider. http://blog.interspike.com/?p=83

    I enjoy your blog.

  4. Congratulations, your Reverendship.

We had a couple of friends get themselves ordained the same way so they could do our wedding. That was (ack) 10 years ago and one of them has turned it into a nice little side business that she really enjoys.

  5. Neil (and all other curious, would-be surgeons) - circumcision is expressly prohibited in the charter. So you know…

Marilyn - yeah, how ’bout it? I have not had a rest like that since, and it’s starting to show. I’m gonna do a quickie to Ojai soon, and need to put a longer rest on the map soon. Where/when, I’m not sure, but boy howdy, are those vacations necessary.

Spike - I love complete strangers! Er, well, you know. Not *all* of them. But you seem nice. Biz cards are a great idea. I’m toying with an idea that will work for my many incarnations. Thanks for the nudge.

Jeanne - you’re welcome, my Child. Don’t know about the side biz, but if all goes well in October, I’ll consider it. There are worse ways to spend a Saturday or Sunday afternoon…

  6. The trouble with the ULC’s web site is that the records don’ìt go very far back. Unlike, says, those of the Chruch of the Latter Day Saints. I got ordained way back in the late 1970s, in order to fight a rash of PhD-wielding evolution-denyers, but I can’t find my sustificate anywhere and nor do I appear on the ULC’s rolls.

    What to do?
