Jean - dang, of course! I’ll have to see what I can dig out of the Motorola. Or wait–the BF took a buncha photos at the wedding last month. My hair looked ESPECIALLY horrid that day. Good thing it was all about the bride :-)

Bon - I did. Corrected, and thanks. Sadly, it was not the ’90s, but 2002. No excuse for that hair, except for the show. Yeah, I’m gonna blame the show.

annie - Thanks. Yeah, alcoholism and cancer suck about equally. Miss that Mom, I do I do.

ME - “Practice runs for death!?!” That is the awesome-est thing I’ve heard in days. And a great band name.

But seriously (if that’s possible), I appreciate your honesty, chiming in and sharing. Truthfully, I hadn’t even thought that the hair loss might at this point be compounded by perimenopause, which I’m currently enjoying as well. Very strange, this getting old thing. Although I’m enjoying the two-day periods.

And on a side note, why the FUCK is “perimenopause” being flagged by spellcheck? Cursed patriarchy…

I appreciate your grace in this post on your hair loss. I, too, lost my hair in bunches and bunches (in my case, hormonal shifts due to perimenopause). I identify so much with you when you talk about your gratitude for what’s left. Try to be easy on yourself for all you took for granted–don’t we all? We’re tricked, a bit, in thinking that this stuff stays. This might be the start of that point in life where it becomes undeniable that it all goes. Are these practice runs for death, I wonder? Mini-goodbyes coupled w/ever-deeper appreciation for what’s left. I actually don’t think it’s such a bad design, when the gratitude you speak of is the endnote.

Coco, you *must* have the date wrong in the photo credit. This can’t be a photo of you, circa July 2007. I’ve seen you in 2007. That hair is way ’90s. No?
