Curtis - YES!!!!!! And more specifically, speak to him/her about living trusts. And don't cheap out (although it sounds like you're not)--you want that sucker to be airtight.

Nothing like money to bring out the worst in people. Which reminds me, my lawyer tells me and my wife that we really should have wills...

Angie - happy to hold up the mirror. Hope it's not too scary!

Stephen - We were no Carringtons, that's for sure! But the amounts were significant enough to give pause. For almost anyone.

Thanks for the kind words and support.

I continue to enjoy your posts and especially liked this one. You managed to explain, without having to go into great detail, what happens when money is involved after the demise of one's parents.

Very well written and quite interesting! It led me to wonder (as I'm sure it led others who read this article) just how much money was involved. It would have been morbidly more exciting if you added in how many millions were involved but I understood that was a line you didn't want to cross. Therefore, it was left the reader's imagination to wonder!

Thanks for sharing. Your story probably reasonated with a lot of people from all walks of life, not just the "Dynasties" of this world.
