You guys are both off the mark: 'Hipper Than Two Dead Ladies" is the name of my theme song. Played by said band. At said bar. And I don't even drink.
(Although I might revise to "Dead Gals" for cadence... CW is so broad these days anything with a twang gets played.)

Jared - That would be a good name for a bar: the Burning Bus.

GirlPie - Absolutely. Few things are more repulsive than neediness. Or everyone likes to eat in a busy restaurant. Or all of the above.

Mary Ellen - Agreed. While we all need help moving forward on stuff, sometimes the inspiration or encouragement for that comes from knowing you're not alone. A large part of why I bother blogging :-)

Angie - If I can't be hipper than two dead ladies, I'm in serious trouble! And I hope you find a nice dude, too.

I like your advice to this gent. Since the human spirit rides on the fumes of hope, and despair threatens to snuff hope out (and, as you say, can also snuff out otherwise-likely-to-be-interested dating prospects), why not offer him reasons for hope--and not just blowing sunshine his way but offering advice from your own wisdom and experience? Groovy as Dan Savage might be, sometimes when folks ask for advice, even when they're paying for it, dissecting and analyzing isn't nearly as helpful as joining in the shared humanity of it all and offering from that place. Hasn't that been your experience? It's sure been mine. And, for the record, you were and remain a very cool chick.
