That's a wonderful idea!! Thanks for sharing your part. I think I shall steal that, might have to wait a couple years for it to really be meaningful, but it's going onto the "bucket list." Oh yeah, here's a cheap pun, you said your friend Kevin would probably dig it, but would he also "digg it?" :)

Love the blog!

Oh my God it's been forever since I've heard the "don't bother showing up on Sunday" line. I still love it. Happy birthday to buddy, Kevin, too. To tell the truth--you can bet the ranch that that'll never get old. At the same time I hear you alluding to the need to financially support your/my/our ability to tell the truth. It helps to not have a day job that sucks dry every vital drop of energy and sustenance, not to mention soul, i.e. advertising. I see you finding a way to support your truth-telling with an income source conducive to that task. Shakti Gawain ("Living In The Light") talks about money being currency, i.e. a current like electricity, that's vital to making possible this sort of truth-telling. She talks about folks who sometimes throw away the baby with the bath water in eshewing money because they don't want to pursue it as an end in itself. I like her idea that money is neither the enemy nor the god, but the currency that energizes the process of moving forward with one's purpose and mission. Thanks for bringing all of this to mind for me.

Mr. Business Golf - That's what a steady diet of cheeseburgers, single-malt Scotch and cigarettes will do to a person.

Plus there was the Y&RNY motto: If you don't show up on Saturday, don't bother showing up on Sunday.

Wasn't there any sunshine in your area back in the 70's and 80's...or even tanning lotion? I get the 'suspenders'..I think I remember those being called 'Hip' or something like that back then...

but that was too many board meetings ago where everyone in Sales felt it was 'Hip' to come into the Board meetings, take off their coat to show off the $500 pair of suspenders they are wearing..I am so glad I am away from that..

That's such an awesome idea! The best gifts are those that are homemade, especially when it involves writing (in my opinion, anyways). Thanks for sharing part of your contribution to it. :)

Kevin's idea (and your contribution to it) will have changed lives this year. Thank you so much for sharing both.

Snappy earthday to your pal Kevin.
